BUCYRUS — Area residents dropped off 39 pounds of unused and expired prescription medication, over-the-counter drugs and vitamins at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The program was held in cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet, which helps keep drugs out of rivers, streams, drinking water and out the hands of children.

Also, Sheriff Scott Kent today announced that the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office has awarded $21,620.04 in federal traffic safety funding to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for fiscal year 2017.

“Partnerships are critical to the success of any safety effort and we are committed to working with safety partners to address traffic safety concerns Crawford County,” said Sheriff Scott Kent.

The sheriff’s office will use the money to conduct high visibility traffic enforcement during specific holidays, homecomings, proms, and during national traffic campaigns on state routes and rural roadways that have been designated as problem areas.
