City partners with Efficiency Smart to offer discounted light bulbs

GALION — For a limited time, Galion electric customers can purchase discounted Greenlite CFL and LED bulbs at Liberty Farm, Home and Garden, 222 South Liberty Street. Through the discounted price, the LEDs will be sold for $1 each and the CFLs will be available in a four-pack for $1. The bulbs will be available while supplies last. There is a limit of eight discounted bulbs per customer.

The Greenlite light bulbs are Energy Star rated and more energy efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs. CFL’s can last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs and can save you $30 or more over their lifetime. LED’s last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs and can save you $90 or more over their lifetime.

This discounted light bulb program is a result of a partnership between the City of Galion Electric Division and Efficiency Smart, an initiative established by American Municipal Power to help its member communities save on energy usage. In 2015 Efficiency Smart helped its 28 participating communities save a combined 18,458 megawatt-hours of energy for the year.

Galion electric customers may also take advantage of several other Efficiency Smart programs such as rebates on appliances and other products, as well as energy audits for homes and businesses. For more information, visit www.efficiencysmart.org.
