Recycling at Lowe-Volk Park

Saturday, June 11 – 9am to noon

The Colonel Crawford Lions Club and The Friends of the Crawford Park District will have a Recycle Day, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature center located at 2401 State Route 598.

A Recycle Day will be held the second Saturday of each month through the year.

We will be accepting:

Cardboard

Clear/brown/green/blue glass (separate by color)

#1 (PETE) plastics

#2 (HDPE) plastics (colors do not have to be separated)

Newspaper/magazines/office paper/junk mail

Steel cans

Aluminum cans

Household batteries

eyeglasses

CFL lightbulbs – from households only, no businesses please

Laptops, tablets & cell phones.

No electronics, computer towers and monitors or televisions will be accepted.

Any recyclables taken to the Crawford Park District outside of the second Saturday of every month do not get credited to the Park District. If you would like the money generated from recycling to go to them, you must take your recyclables to the Park District during their monthly collections. Lowe-Volk Park is located three miles north of US Route 30. For more information contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000.

Youth Fishing Derby

Saturday, June 11, 9 am to 11 am at Lowe-Volk Park

The Crawford Park District invites kids who are between 5 and 12 years old and their parents, to come out and enjoy a morning of fishing at the Lowe-Volk pond. Join volunteer, Rob Farson, for a great morning of family fishing. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups. Make it a family event! Lowe-Volk Park is located 3 miles north of US Route 30. Purple Martins

Tuesday, June 14 7 pm Unger Park, 1303 Bucyrus-Nevada Rd.

Now in its fourth year, the Purple Martin colony at the Crawford Park District’s Unger Park is a major success story. In addition to learning how to start a Martin colony of their own, participants will get to look inside the Unger apartment complex and take part in the ongoing monitoring program. Meet Warren Uxley at the Unger parking lot. Unger Park is located just west of Bucyrus on Bucyrus-Nevada Road. For more information contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000.

Bookmarking Flowers

Wednesday, June 15 6pm Lowe-Volk Park

Flowers come in many arrangements, sizes, and colors. In this program that will explore the basics of flowers and their purpose, the Crawford Park District’s Joy Etter-Link, will also show how to preserve flowers through pressing. After looking close at nature’s beauties, Joy will also have a craft turning those pressed flowers into bookmarks. For kids up to 5th grade. Lowe-Volk Park is located 3 miles north of US Route 30.
