In order to commend Galion students for their hard work and academic achievements throughout the 2015-2016 school year, the High School will host its annual Academic Awards program Monday, May 16. The program begins at 7 p.m. in the Galion High School cafetorium.

Galion High School students earning a 3.5 or above during the 2015-2016 school year will be recognized for their hard work in the area of academics. The guest speaker for the evening will be former assistant superintendent, and Galion alumna, Sandy Powell. This portion of the evening’s schedule is open to the public.

Prior to the high school awards ceremony, the Galion Community Foundation will host its annual Scholarship Awards program. This is an invitation-only event for Galion seniors receiving Foundation scholarships and their families that will be held from 6:00-6:45 p.m. in the Galion High School Music Room. A total of 14 Galion High School seniors will be receiving 19 scholarships totaling $31,000.00.

“This is a special night for our students, their families, our staff and the entire district,” Galion City School District Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “This the start of the scholarship awards season for our seniors, and I can’t wait to see the amount of financial support our students receive for their future academic endeavors. I want to thank the Galion Community Foundation for their continued support of academic excellence in the Galion City School District.”
