Each year, the Galion Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) organizes and hosts a Field Day for students in both the Galion Primary and Intermediate Schools. This year’s events will take place on May 19 for the Galion Primary School, while the Galion Intermediate School event is set for May 20.

The Field Day is designed to be a day of fun and relaxation for both students and teachers. Students participate in many activities during the day at both the Intermediate and Primary Schools, and Elementary School Physical Education teacher Matt Tyrrell works with the PTO to develop the Field Day activities for the students.

“Field Day is a long-standing tradition of fun and friendly competition in our elementary schools,” Elementary PTO Treasurer Bryan Summer said. “Mr. Tyrrell has done a fantastic job this year developing games and activities to help achieve the goal of allowing students and staff the opportunity to unwind after a long, successful school year.”

The Primary School is conducting a coin drive through Friday, May 6, while the Intermediate School is conducting their coin drive May 9-13. The goal is to raise $2,000 to help pay for inflatables, popcorn, snow cones, games supplies and prizes for the students during the annual event.

“The Galion Elementary PTO does a great job supporting educational programs at both the Intermediate and Primary Schools,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “We are thankful for the PTO, and hope our students and staff enjoy a well-deserved day of fun and excitement.”

Community members can donate coins for the events by dropping off their donation to either the Primary or Intermediate School offices. For more information about the Field Day, please contact Bryan Summer at 419-468-3676 or email [email protected].
