The Bucyrus City School District’s annual District Arts Festival will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bucyrus Secondary School on Thursday. The event, sponsored by the Bucyrus Education Foundation, is free and open to the public.
This year’s festival will feature artwork from students PK – 12, as well as an array of musical performances from the Xband, Concert Band, Concert Choir and Players Club. Special pieces from Mr. Sager’s Industrial Technology class, Mrs. Purvis’s FCCLA club and Mr. Funigiello and Ms. Severt’s media classes will also be on display.
The schedule for the evening’s festivities will be as follows:
• 5:30 p.m. – Doors Open – Visual Art Displays in HS Gym (open the entire evening)
• 6 p.m. – Players and Choir in HS Gym
• 6:45 p.m. – Concert Band in MS Gym
• 7:30 p.m. – XBand in MS Gym; Percussion Project
According to high school art teacher and event coordinator Michael Striker, this event allows students to take ownership of their work.
“The students worked hard all year mastering new skills and perfecting their pieces. This gives them an opportunity to showcase their work in a professional venue for all to see. I highly encourage parents and community members to attend the show; I know they will greatly enjoy the high caliber of work on display,” Striker said.
Students will have the chance to attend the event during the school day. Parents and community members are encouraged to visit that evening.
