Nurse impostor sentenced to probation

A woman who lied on her resume to obtain jobs in the medical field was sentenced to five years of community control in Crawford County Common Pleas Court earlier this week after pleading guilty to three counts of practicing medicine without a certificate.

Kristin A. Sweet, 31, is currently serving a three-year prison sentence after being convicted in Stark County on charges of identity fraud, practicing nursing without a license and deception to obtain drugs.

As part of her plea agreement with prosecutors, Sweet will not have to pay a fine but will be responsible for court costs and the costs of her supervision while on community control.

Sweet is scheduled for early release from prison on the Stark County conviction and will then be required to enroll in counseling. She will be supervised on her community control by Stark County officials.

Leuthold accepted a plea agreement Sweet made with the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office that called for a sentence of five years on community control with no fine. But Sweet must pay court costs and the cost of her supervision.

If Sweet violates the terms of her probation, Judge Sean Leuthold can send her to prison for three years.

Also, a Bucyrus woman was sentenced to two years of court-supervised intervention in lieu of conviction program after pleading guilty to amended drug-related charge.

Brooke Bayless, 22, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a fourth-degree felony, which was an amended charge from tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

As part of her plea agreement with prosecutors, a 2015 possession of drugs case was dismissed. If Bayless fails to complete the intervention program successfully, she could be sentenced to 18 months in prison.
