March auto sales up for Crawford, Morrow combined

Total auto sales in Crawford and Morrow counties combined increased slightly for March, despite a declined for new vehicle sales.

There were 333 new and used vehicle sales for Crawford and Morrow counties last month compared with 321 in March 2015, according to data provided to the Galion Inquirer by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The data comes from auto titles processed by county title departments by the final business day each month.

But new sales for the counties combined were down in March at 28 vehicles compared with 43 vehicles in March 2016. There were 305 used vehicles in Crawford and Morrow counties last month compared with 278 in March 2015 — a 9.71 percent increase.

Separately, both counties saw an increase for new and used vehicles sales in March. Last month, Crawford had 231 sales and Morrow County had 102 compared with 226 and 95 sales, respectively, for the same month in 2015.

The top three dealers of March 2016 were Matthews Chevrolet Bucyrus Inc. with 55 new and used vehicle sales, followed by Ohio Specialty Services (34) and All Quality Auto Parts (20). Matthews Chevrolet had 63 new and used vehicle sales in March 2015, while All Quality Auto Parts had 16. Moyers Auto Wrecking Inc. was the second top dealer of March 2015 with 26 vehicles in total sales.

The top three makes for new and used vehicles in March 2016 and 2015 were Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge. The Chevrolet make had 93 new and used vehicle sales last month, down from 98 in March 2015. Ford also declined to 51 sales in March compared with 71 in March 2015, while Dodge increased by 10 cars to 31 sales in March 2016.
