Holiday schedule at Lowe-Volk Park

LEESVILLE — Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center will be open on Tuesday, July 4 from noon to 8 p.m. The normal summer hours of the Nature Center are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. All Crawford Park District parks are open from sunrise to sunset. The ponds at Unger Park and Lowe-Volk Park are open for catch-and-release fishing. Adults do not need a license to fish in either of the ponds.

Galion Board of Control to meet July 3

GALION — The city’s Board of Control will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, July 3, at 9 a.m. in the office of the Safety/Service Director. Bids for the tennis court renovations will be considered.

“America the Beautiful” show at Brush and Palette

GALION — The Brush and Palette Art Gallery is inviting area artists to exhibit artwork in the gallery’s upcoming special show, “America the Beautiful. The artwork will be featured at the gallery July 2-31.

Ohio 19 closing near Ohio 100 July 5

CRAWFORD COUNTY — Ohio 19, between Ohio 100 and Orr Road, will close Wednesday, July 5 for bridge maintenance.

The detour route for northbound motorists is Ohio 19 to Ohio 100, west on Ohio 100, continue northwest onOhio 100 to Ohio 103, east on Ohio 103 to Ohio 19, and reverse for southbound motorists.

The road is expected to reopen Wednesday, July 19.

Port Clinton Artists’ Club Call for Artists

PORT CLINTON — The Port Clinton Artists’ Club is happy to announce Arts in the Park will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5-6 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 until 4 pm on Sunday at Lakeview Park in Port Clinton, Ohio.

Exceptional, original art is displayed and sold by nearly 120 artists coming from around the Midwest. The show is free and open to the public. One of the oldest art festivals in Ohio, Arts in the Park continues to bring unique and original art to Ottawa County.

Ohio Women’s Veterans Conference in August

COLUMBUS — Registration is now open for the biennial Ohio Women Veterans Conference isAugust 12, 2017 at the Ohio Union at The Ohio State University. With more than 50 exhibits and 20 speakers, women veterans will find information about Ohio’s new fast track to jobs and education as well as services available locally through 88 County Veterans Services Offices. The conference is free but there is an optional fee for lunch.

This year’s theme is Celebrating Generations of Service – 67,000 Veterans Strong. Topic areas include managing your money military style, maximizing military skills on your civilian resume, support and mentoring for women veterans in the workplace, challenges with aging, statewide resources, access to benefits and more.

Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Veterans Services with support from the Ohio Women Veterans Advisory Committee, the conference is expected to attract 750 women veterans from Ohio. To register visit http://dvs.ohio.gov/main/women-veterans-conference.html.
