Power of the Purse is a women’s giving event featuring sales and auctions of designer, vintage and unique purses, as well as a live auction of goods and services donated by area businesses.

Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross.

Tickets for Power of the Purse are $60 per person, $250 for a reserved table of four. Reserved tables of eight are available for an early bird price of $450, before Feb. 15, the cost is $500 after that date. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the event, with a dinner buffet served until 7 p.m. The auction starts at 7:30 p.m.

OhioHealth Mansfield and Marion is the presenting sponsor for this year’s Power of the Purse, with WQEL/WBCO and Crawford County the signature media partner.

“You do not need to travel far to hear from dynamic leaders about how they are changing the landscape in our Crawford County community today” said Linda Cooperider, a community volunteer leader. “Women will walk away inspired and ready to impact our community profoundly with their actions, at the same time having fun together.”

Cooperider said “live auction packages will feature designer purses including Coach, Kate Spade, and Michael Kors bags”. The community can get involved as a sponsor or by donating a purse or auction item.

The second “Helen Picking Neff, Women in Leadership” award will be presented to Mary Lee Minor.

The annual award is presented to an inspirational female leader in the community. The award is in honor of Helen Picking Neff, a long-tenured volunteer and supporter of the American Red Cross. The Helen Picking Neff, Women in Leadership Award is selected from nominations the community makes to the Power of the Purse Leadership committee.

Power of the Purse provides significant funding for Red Cross services in our community, including disaster relief, services to the Armed Forces, health and safety/CPR training and other critical community services the American Red Cross provides.
