Sherer family meets for 111th reunion

GALION — Thirty family members attended the 111th Sherer Family Reunion on Aug. 14, 2016 at the Galion Free Methodist Church Christian Life Center.

Rebecca Eusey gave the opening prayer, after which everyone enjoyed a delicious pot-luck dinner. Eusey then led the business meeting which included treasurer’s report by Lon Leapley and secretary’s report by Katie Leapley.

Nominations for next year’s officers were taken and include: Rebecca Eusey – president; Mary Fernandez – vice president; Katie Leapley – secretary; Lon Leapley – treasurer; Corresponding Secretary – Larry Sherer.

Prizes were given for: Oldest person – Christine Cook, 99; Youngest boy present – Karter Barnett, 15 months; Youngest girl present – Kelly Barnett, 28; Oldest man present – Lon Leapley, 82’ Longest married – Sam and Judy Eichhorn, 51 years; Traveled farthest – Larry Sherer, 125 miles.

The Revolving attendance trophy was presented to Dorothy Flohr family with seven present.

Following the business meeting people spent time socializing and viewing family history books.

The reunion was dedicated to late family members Lela Coldwell and Jim Stemen.

Next year’s reunion is Aug. 17th at Galion Free Methodist Church Christian Life Center.
