Foundation awards more than $50,000 in grants

BUCYRUS — The Community Foundation for Crawford County recently awarded over $ 51,000 in competitive grants to local charitable organizations and municipalities.

The grants went to:

Friends of the Crawford Park District: $350 to purchase 1,000 pairs of solar glasses to distribute for the solar eclipse viewing on August 21, 2017

Village of New Washington: $1,400 to replace benches at the swimming pool

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio: $5,000 to provide 250 nights of room and board for families from Crawford County with hospitalized children

Crestline Assistance Ministries Program (CAMP): $1,400 to purchase a new chest freezer and computer

Team Focus Ohio Chapter: $7,200 toward the Summer Leadership Camp expenses at Ashland University where some of the participants will be Crawford County boys without fathers

Turning Point/Concerned Citizens Against Violence Against Women: $5,000 toward a new playground

Galion Community Center YMCA: – $10,717 toward replacing gymnasium backboards and scoreboards

Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council, Inc.: $2,868 for community outreach programs for 60 K-5th grade Crawford County girls

Odyssey Recovery Group of Crawford County, Ohio, Inc.: $1,000 for office furniture and supplies to be used by clients

Seneca Crawford Area Transportation (SCAT): $3,734 to buy a wheelchair-accessible, modified minivan for Crawford County transportation

Galion Depot, Inc.; $12,500 toward safety fencing.

The third and final 2017 grant cycle deadline is August 18, with grants to be awarded in the fall.
