Summer may be months away but The Positive Seekers are already planning their second annual Red, White, and Blues Festival.
“We want it to be just like the old-fashioned carnivals that families can really enjoy,” said Carolyn Shireman, founder of The Positive Seekers that formed over two years ago to bring positive events to the community and put smiles on people’s faces. “We want to have things like flame throwers, baton twirlers and other street entertainment.”
Joe Graham, president of the group, said donations and sponsorships are needed now for the event that will be held from 2-7 p.m. on July 3 at Aumiller Park in Bucyrus.
“We need sponsors so that we can bring in live entertainment like we did last year,” said Graham.
Last year’s event included cannons, face-painting, visits with safety forces for children, several live bands and food.
“The pool will be open this year with admission being half-price. A sponsor could pay that half so the pool is free of charge,” Graham said.
Graham said sponsor packets are currently being created.
“We need to get people on board and will be visiting the Bucyrus City Council next week,” Shireman said.
Shireman said the event is free to the public and is being held for the entire county.
“We want people to come to our event from everywhere, not just Bucyrus. It is a county-wide event,” Shireman said.
Graham said the live entertainment needs to be booked sooner rather than later.
“We need to book soon so that we know what our entertainment is going to be as well as the budget which is why we are asking for sponsorships and donations now,” Graham said.
Shireman said The Positive Seekers have rented all of the shelters this year for the event.
“Non-profits and other businesses can set up in the shelters but there cannot be any direct sales of products during the festival,” Shireman said.
