Local author pens book about life’s magnificent adventures

GALION — A local fire fighter, a wooden puppet, an old scrooge and even a famous racehorse have taught life lessons to Bucyrus-based author Cherie Young as this journey we call life has unfolded for her.

Young began writing her book, “A Magnificent Adventure,” when she was still in high school, without realizing it at the time.

“My book is about others that I have met in my journey. Situations that touched my heart and made an impression in some way,” said Young during her book signing event on Thursday at the Candi Bar in Galion.

The wife, mother of three and grandmother to seven says she wants to show people how to soar in life.

“Many people look at their life a diminished future instead of a magnificent adventure,” Young said. “When you walk closely with God, your journey through life is so much better.”

Young resurrected a transcript she had written in high school during a writing class she took in 2008.

“I went to my class reunion and started talking about writing to one of my classmates,” Young said.

Young also talked with Bob Gibson, a distant friend who was a professor at The Ohio State University in Mansfield.

“He told me to come and take his writing class and I finally did,” Young said.

That class inspired Young to keep going until she finished her book that is on sale now through Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com.
