PICKERINGTON — Northmor’s softball season ended on Monday, in a district semi-final game against Newark Catholic. The Green Wave defeated the Golden Knights by a score of 12-2. Newark Catholic and East Knox play for a district title on Wednesday.

Neither team plated a run in the first inning, but that would change in the second. Newark had seven runs come across home plate to take firm control of the game early.

The first two Green Wave runs came on an error and passed ball. Ava Heffley recorded an RBI single to bring in the team’s third run. Banjoff brought in Heffley with a single to center field. Maris Knowlton ended the big inning with a three-run home run to deep center field.

Avery Nagel jumped in the home run action with a solo shot on the second pitch in the third inning. Then, Heffley brought in another run thanks to a slap to center field. The Green Wave made it 10-0 after a sacrifice fly by Kami Diaz.

Reagan See nailed a triple to bring in Northmor’s first run. Madison Simpson hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the second run for the Golden Knights.

In the fifth inning, Diaz hit a two-run home run to give Newark a 12-2 lead, enough for the run rule. The Green Wave locked down the win with a fielder’s choice, and two strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Northmor softball team finished their season with a 12-13 record.
