Locos continue dominance of Graders

LIMA — The Galion Graders traveled to the city of Lima on Tuesday to meet up with the Central Division leading Locos at Simmons Field for game one of the two-game set.

In a game that was over in less than two hours, Lima took home another victory over Galion, shutting out the visitors by a final score of 5-0. The Locos improved to 20-6 with the victory and the Graders now sit at 12-14. Game two of the series will be played, weather allowing, on Wednesday at Heddleson Field in Galion.

Lima’s pitching staff held Galion to just six hits in 29 official at-bats on Tuesday. As a team, the Graders recorded five singles and a double while walking once and striking out 13 times. The Locos were also flawless in the field, committing zero errors on the evening to Galion’s one error.

Brady Hettinger and Matt Noel finished with one single apiece. Austin Hathaway recorded the double and Jake Hoover notched three singles on the night for the Galion offense. En route to being shut out, the Graders stranded just three runners on the base path while Lima left seven on base.

Osvaldo Duran was handed the loss after starting the game for the Graders. Duran tossed six innings, allowed six hits and two earned runs while walking two and striking out one Locos’ hitter. Sam Stewart pitched the final two innings for Galion, allowing three hits (two home runs) and three earned runs and fanning a batter. In total, Lima recorded their five runs on nine hits.
