‘Beauty and the Beast’ opens Friday at Galion Community Theatre

GALION — Danielle Meddles and Rick Walker will take center stage the next two weeks as Galion Community Theatre presents “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.”

The timeless classic is just now raking in millions on movie theatres across the nation, but Galion area residents can see this localized version six times over the next two weeks. And it’s starring plenty of local talent,

The Disney classic, by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, tells the classic story tells of Belle, played by Meddles, a young woman in a provincial town; and the Beast, portrayed by Walker, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.

As the well-known story goes, if the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self.

But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity

The show premiers in Galion on Friday at 8 p.m. It will be presented again at 8 p.m. Saturday and there is a Sunday matinee, starting at 2 p.m. Show times next week are the same: 8 p.m. Friday, June 23; 8 p.m. Saturday, June 24; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
