BUCYRUS – A Galion man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl is being held on a $2 million bond in the Crawford County Justice Center.
Crawford County Municipal Court Judge Shane Leuthold set the bond on Thursday for Timothy J. Peck, 22, who is accusing of raping the underage girl at a house party in Galion last weekend.
If convicted of rape, a first-degree felony, Peck faces up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. According to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office, additional charges may be levied against Peck.
Drug bust on West Mansfield Street
BUCYRUS A Bucyrus man was arrested on several charges after authorities searched his residence on Thursday to investigate possible drug possession, drug trafficking, and permitting drug abuse.
Andrew Young, 43, Bucyrus, was arrested on possession of drugs charge after the search of his house at 240 W. Mansfield St., by the Crawford County Special Response Team that includes officers from the Bucyrus and Galion Police Departments, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the METRICH Task Force, and fire fighters from the Bucyrus Fire Department.
Young is being held at the Crawford County Justice Center pending a court appearance.
Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke said in a post on the department’s Facebook page that he appreciates the cooperation of neighboring agencies along with Neighborhood Watch groups.
Koepke encourages all residents to report any possible drug activity to the Bucyrus Police Department’s anonymous tip line by calling 419-834-2023.
Other court news
Four people are heading to prison after being sentenced in Crawford County Common Pleas Court this week.
* Cody J. Moyer, 28, Galion, was sentenced to one year in prison on a possession of drugs charge and three years in prison for trafficking in drugs. The sentences are to be served consecutively but Moyer may be eligible to file for early release after he serves a substantial amount of time of his four-year sentence.
Moyer was arrested, along with his wife Keely and Brandon Johnson Jr., on Sept 17 after a drug raid at their Galion residence.
Moyer was also ordered to pay drug fines totaling $6,250 and to forfeit all drug-related property to the Galion Police Department. Leuthold also suspended Moyer’s driver’s license for six months.
* Richard C. Awbrey 41, Columbus, was sentenced to 20 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs and one count of tampering with evidence. He must also pay a $1,250 drug fine and forfeit all drug-related property to the Bucyrus Police Department.
Matthew M. Maag, 23, Galion was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and admitted to violating his probation from a 2014 conviction. He was sentenced to an additional year in prison for violating his probation by admitting to providing fake urine for a mandatory drug test.
* Sarah R. Barker, 34, Galion, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs and one count of permitting drug abuse. Leuthold sentenced her to 11 months in prison on each charge to be served concurrently. She must also pay a $1,250 drug fine and her driver’s license is suspended for six months.
