The new executive director for the United Way of Crawford County is anxious to make her mark in the community.

Vanessa L. Shutler was formally named to the position last week.

She previously served with the Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities for six years as the Community Employment Manager and also the Supervisor of a four-county partnership and state agency contract.

Shutler said she’s excited about the opportunity.

“I am honored to be the new Director of such an amazing and important organization,” she said. “I feel I can help more people on a boarder scale and help agencies that touch all over the county.

“The United Way believes in the power of partnerships and in the betterment of our community for everyone,” board member Pennie Fox said. “We are very excited to be a part of continuing to bring change and positivity to Crawford County and have Vanessa as the new Executive Director.”

The Crawford group partners with county agencies to address critical issues including education, income, and health.

Several years ago, the group became a county-wide organization.

Shutler said she’s looking forward to being involved in the community.

“I want to learn the specifics about the agencies we fund,” she sad.

The United Way of Crawford County office is now located in the Galion Chamber of Commerce building at 138 Harding Way W. in Galion.

The group can be reached at 419-468-4291 or [email protected].
