Galion High School sophomore Nichole Durdle represented Ohio at a national AMVETS Freedom Foundation seminar in Philadelphia because of her award-winning essay.

Budget cuts in the wake of a levy failure left Galion High School music director Rick Walker working 70-hour weeks after former band director Matt Millinger resigned.

The week ending Oct. 31, 1975

A 26-year-old Galion man identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as David Connell was critically wounded by an agent who was attempting to arrest Connell at a Temp, Arz. motel.

The Galion golf team was fifth after the first day of competition in the Class AAA state tournament with a four-player score of 340.

The week ending Oct. 31, 1940

Betty Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor, underwent X-ray treatment today to determine the extent of her injuries received in a head-on collision involving two cars.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Beck were surprised with a party honoring their thirty-third wedding anniversary at their home on Harding Way East.
