Leesville Grange holds September meeting

Leesville Grange #2078 met at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in the William Brown Arts and Crafts Building on Sept. 20 for their annual Grange membership picnic. Chaplain Dorothy Eckert offered prayer before the meal. Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting.

The Legislative report was regarding WOTUS rule causing states to lose their sovereignty over interstate waters that will then be subject to the Clean Water Act. Farmers met to discuss CAUV, the taxation department and the value of farmland and woodland being the same.

The Family Activities Chairperson reported on Family Activities fundraisers being put on for the Ohio State Grange. They are Flower Basket Quilt raffle, “green” reusable tote bags, dish towels, and hand turned wooden items.

The Deaf Activities Chairman reported on childhood infections can cause hearing loss later in life. Also asked members to bring hats and gloves to the next meeting for the Ohio School of the Deaf.

Community Services Chairman thanked all members for bringing food items for Crestline Food Pantry.

The Leesville and Pomona Grange notebooks were sent in to the Community Service, Lecturer and Deaf Activities Directors.

Renewal forms for the Grange Magazine on the back of the September/October issue must be sent back to the Ohio State Grange Office by Oct. 31.

Lecturer’s Program theme for the evening was “A Picnic Basket Full of Humor, Stories, Thoughts, Wit and Wisdom.”

The next regular Leesville Grange/Crawford County Pomona meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Jefferson Twp. Fire Department with a potluck meal and planning of the new Grange year.
