Buckeye Central kept the “zero” in the win column for Ridgedale tonight by beating them by a score of 76-33.

Buckeye Central came out on fire with the team scoring at will, gaining a sixteen point lead before Ridgedale put in their first basket. Three-pointers from Jenna Karl and Haley Green got the Buckeye Central team rolling and they never looked back.

“We had some kids step up and shoot the ball real well tonight,” said Buckeye Central girls basketball head coach Greg Moore, referring to the trio of Karl and Courtney Pifher who each had 16 points and Green who had 15 points.

Green scored 12 points in the first quarter.

The Buckettes headed to the locker room with a 45-12 lead at halftime.

Ridgedale could never get anything going the whole game and Buckeye Central seemed like they couldn’t miss.

“I told our kids the basket is that wide every night,” Moore said.

The Buckettes were scoring at least 14 points in every quarter. The team also won the second half of the game 31-21.

“It’s rough, but I am very proud of how hard the girls are working and playing,” Ridgedale girls basketball head coach Jamie Thompson said.

Ridgedale lost a couple girls tonight to injury, but Thompson hopes they will be back for their next game at Colonel Crawford.

The leading scorer for Ridgedale was Megan Mulvaine who scored 20 points followed by Kerry Pauley with 7 points.

“We had great effort tonight,” Moore said. “But we have to get ready for Carey now, who haven’t lost a league game in two years and practice taking care of the boards better.”

Before the game, the Buckeye Central boys freshman team defeated Ridgedale 44-34.

The Buckettes (8-5, 7-4N10) will host to play Carey on Saturday.
