Girls basketball: Galion falls to River Valley

The Galion girls basketball team lost to River Valley 69-25 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday night.

The Lady Tigers made eight shots and 3 of 6 free throws, while the Lady Vikings made 18 shots and 9 of 13 free throws.

Natalie Rodriguez led the Tigers with seven points, while Taylor Valentine added five points.

Kendall Stuckman led the Vikings with a game high of 20 points, while Morgan Lott added 16 point and Jensen Lewis tallied 14.

River Valley also won the junior varsity game 42-21.

Galion (4-11, 0-9 MOAC) will travel to play Fairbanks (4-11, 1-8 MOAC) in league play on Thursday.

Buckeye Central Buckettes

The Buckeye Central girls basketball team lost to Upper Sandusky 56-35 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference action Friday night.

The Buckettes trailed the Lady Rams 29-10 at halftime.

Buckeye Central shot 14 of 58 and made 4 of 5 free throws, while Upper Sandusky shot 22 of 50, making 9 of 10 free throws.

The Rams narrowly defeated the Buckettes in the second half 27-25.

Buckeye Central had 36 rebounds and 20 turnovers, while Upper Sandusky had 33 rebounds and 13 turnovers.

Haley Green led the Buckettes with 11 points including three 3-pointers, while Jenna Karl added 8 points.

Abigail Fogle led the Rams with a game high of 14 points including two 3-pointers, while Emma Smith added 12 points.

Buckeye Central (7-6, 6-5 N10) will host to play Ridgedale in conference play on Tuesday.

Bucyrus Redmen

The Bucyrus girls basketball team lost to Mohawk 53-51 in league play Friday night.

The Lady Redmen had a 26-20 lead over the Lady Warriors at halftime.

Bucyrus shot 16 of 39 and made 18 of 32 free throws, while Mohawk made 16 of 50 shots and 16 of 22 free throws.

The Warriors won the second half 28-22, tying the game at 51 and defeating the Redmen in overtime 5-3.

Bucyrus had 39 rebounds and 32 turnovers, while Mohawk had 26 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

Kelci Simms led the Redmen with 20 points, while Shaina Orewiler and Gabby Seibert each added 11 points.

For the Warriors, Ally Weinandy had a game high of 21 points, while Chelsea Trusty added 16 points.

Bucyrus (5-7, 4-5 N10) will host to play Colonel Crawford (7-9, 4-7 N10) on Tuesday.

Colonel Crawford Eagles

The Colonel Crawford girls basketball team defeated Seneca East 57-56 in league play on Friday.

The Lady Eagles record improves 4-7 in the league and 7-9 overall.

Wynford Royals

The Wynford girls basketball team lost to Carey 57-23 in league play Friday night.

The Lady Royals trailed the undefeated Lady Blue Devils 30-11 at halftime.

Wynford made seven shots and eight free throws, while Carey made 25 shots and four free throws.

The Royals lost to the Blue Devils in the second half of the game 27-12.

Maci Cooper led Wynford with nine points.

Sydney Kin led Carey with 18 points, while Shelby Kin added 12 points and Sydney Wentling tallied 11.

The Royals (5-9, 4-7 N10) will host to play Mohawk on Tuesday.
