The Galion Athletics Department is excited to host its first winter sports season Galion Elementary School Spirit Night Dec. 19. The Tigers boys basketball teams will face Pleasant, with freshman tipping off at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 6:00 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Along with the Elementary Night activities, the Athletics Department will also host “Mel Strong” Night in honor of 5th grade student Melanie Wheeler. Primary and Intermediate Schools students who attend the game with a paying adult, and wear their Galion Elementary spirit t-shirt, will receive free admission to the contests.

“We are very excited to host both the Elementary Night and Mel Strong Night,” Athletics Director Kyle Baughn said. “We have an amazing community that has rallied around Melanie, and we want to celebrate the good deeds our Elementary students and staff have done to help Mel and her family.”
