Jonathan Alder defeated Galion in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference boys golf action on Tuesday at Buck Ridge Golf Course in Marysville. The final count was 164-182 in favor of the Pioneers.

Alder’s John Peters won the match medal after shooting 39. Galion’s Jack McElligott was one stroke off the winning pace, carding a 40.

Nick Kruger shot 42 for the Tigers. Brevin Owens and Colten Skaggs each finished at 50. Mitchell Dyer and Sam Rigdon each recorded a score of 52.

Galion is off for the rest of this week. The Tigers have three matches on the schedule next week. Galion plays home matches against Fairbanks next Tuesday and North Union on Wednesday. The Tigers wrap up regular season play on Sept. 24 against Marion Harding at the Marion Country Club.

Galion will compete in the Div. II sectional tournament Oct. 1 at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron. Including Galion, 12 schools will be participating in the Huron sectional. The rest of the field features Bellevue, Clear Fork, Clyde, Edison, Oak Harbor, Ontario, Port Clinton, Shelby, Upper Sandusky, Vermilion and Willard.
