Suburban Lanes in Bucyrus is lending a hand to one of its own this Saturday by hosting a benefit for Sarah Frey and her family.

Frey, a bartender at Suburban Lanes, lost her husband, Nick, on Aug. 22 of this year when died unexpectedly due to complications from a blood clot. The benefit will raise funds to cover medical expenses the family has incurred.

“As money is always an issue in such a tragedy, Suburban Lanes is putting together a benefit to raise funds to help with the many expenses that will result from the loss of her family’s loved one,” said Suburban Lanes manager Butch Pangallo.

The benefit will start at noon on Saturday at the bowling center and run until 1 a.m. Sunday. Open bowling will be available all day for $3 per game. One dollar from each game will be donated to the Frey family’s medical expense fund.

A bake sale will be in operation all day or until the goods are gone, Pangallo said. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the bake sale will go to the fund.

A Scotch Doubles tournament will begin at 9 p.m. The cost is $35 per couple with $10 from each registration going to the Frey family medical expense fund. Cash and prizes will be awarded.

Pangallo said other events include an auction, raffle and 50-50 drawings. He also said that 10 percent of all food and drink sales will be donated to the Frey fund.

The classic rock band Crime Scene will provide entertainment throughout the day.
