Athletes from Galion ran in the highly competitive McGowan Cross Country Invitational last Saturday at Watkins Memorial High School in Pataskala.
The Tigers’ boys team placed 17th in the Div. II team table with 379 points. The Galion girls came in 21st place in Div. II with 474 points.
Senior Casey Barker was the top placer for the Galion boys. He finished in 42nd place, posting a time of 18 minutes, 38.89 seconds.
Freshman Sari Conner was the top runner for the Tigers’ girls squad. She came in 55th place, crossing the finish line 22 minutes, 24.05 seconds.
Colin McCullough placed 50th for the Tigers. His time was 18:51.08. Following are the results for the rest of the Galion boys who competed at the McGowan meet: Lucas Conner (91st, 19:39.26), Luke Eisnaugle (97th, 19:45.35), Thomas Shawk (113th, 20:06.54), Nick Oehler (149th, 21:01.29), Mikey Stover (199th, 22:26.62), Spencer Guinther (203rd, 22:33.21).
Megan Zier finished 80th at Watkins Memorial. Her time was 23:36.15. Following are the results for the rest of the Galion girls who competed at the McGowan meet: Lauren Huggins (111th, 24:31.64), Ashlie Sallee (118th, 24:47.13), Abby Barre (129th, 25:11.24), Kelsey Hoffman (170th, 26:20.8), Lexi Hadamuscin (190th, 27:16.73), Destiny Yoder (203rd, 27:49.53), Cheyenne Blair (205th, 27:51.92).
Heath won the boys team championship and Unioto took home the girls team trophy.
Unioto’s David Magda captured the boys individual title. His time was 16:11.46.
Emma Hoellrich of Fairfield Union won the girls individual championship, finishing the course in 19:25.68.
