Prep football: Buckeye Central blows out Ridgemont, 54-6

Grant Loy passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth to lead Buckeye Central to a 54-6 blowout of Ridgemont on Friday in New Washington.

Loy connected on 10-of-14 passes for 184 yards and rushed for 15 yards on three carries. In the first quarter, Loy hit Warren Wechter for a 12-yard score and then found Scott Heydinger for 32 yards and a touchdown as the Bucks built a 13-0 lead.

Loy ran one yard for a score in the second quarter and hooked up with Cody Roberts on a 15-yard touchdown pass to extend the Buckeye Central lead to 27-0. Roberts scored on a 1-yard run just before halftime to give the Bucks a 33-0 cushion.

Owen Ackerman opened the scoring in the third period with a 60-yard touchdown run on the Bucks first drive. The defense then sacked Gophers quarterback Trenton Sparks in the end zone for a safety, and Nash Ehresman scored on a 1-yard run to extend Buckeye Central’s lead to 47-0 as the fourth quarter started.

Kyle Sanderson scored Buckeye Central’s final touchdown on a 13-yard run in the fourth period.

Ridgemont (1-2) got on the board with 2:04 left in the game when Zavier Gue scored from a yard out. He finished with 64 yards rushing.

Ackerman led Buckeye Central with 94 yards rushing. Roberts rushed for 85 yards. Brice Brenneman had 74 yards receiving for the Bucks. Heydinger finished with 68 receiving yards.

Buckeye Central (2-1, 0-1 N10) travels to Upper Sandusky next Friday.

Ridgemont plays host to Perry in Week 4.
