Boys golf roundup: Colonel Crawford collects two wins this week

Colonel Crawford 187, Crestline 237

Austin Strouse and Eli Shultz each carded a round of 46 to pace the Eagles to the win over Crestline on Thursday at Valley View Golf Course. Strouse and Shultz each made par on two holes.

Isaak Sulser shot 47 and Nick Gremling finished his round at 48 for Colonel Crawford. Jake Roesch shot 52 and Jake Rahm carded 55.

Zac Hatfield led Crestline with a round of 54. Max Anatra shot 56. Ethan Sharp finished at 62 and Gabe Lutz shot 65.

Following are the junior varsity scores recorded by Colonel Crawford golfers: Devon Clayton, 54; Andrew Daubenspeck, 57; Makalah Trubee, 63; Tyson Russell, 65; Andy Brause, 65; A.J. Johnson, 68.

Colonel Crawford (9-3) plays host to Buckeye Central on Tuesday, then travels to Lincoln Hills Golf Course on Thursday to face Upper Sandusky.

Crestline is scheduled to play in the Ridgedale Golf Invitational on Saturday at the Golf Club of Bucyrus. The Bulldogs will play host to Buckeye Central next Wednesday.

Buckeye Central 170, Galion 176

Tanner Zaebst shot 37 to lead Buckeye Central to a six-stroke win over Galion on Wednesday. Zaebst’s score was also good enough to win the match medal.

Galion’s Mitchell Dyer and Brevin Owens each posted career-best numbers against the Bucks. Dyer led the Tigers, shooting 41. Owens finished at 42.

Nick Kruger ended his round at 46 and Jack McElligott continued his solid freshman season, shooting 47. Colten Skaggs also finished at 47. Sam Rigdon carded 56.

Galion won the junior varsity match, 196-203. Jude Kern had the low round at 44. Kaleb Harsh shot 48. Jacob Lear ended the day at 50. Aaron Stewart shot 54. Aaron Barnhart tallied 55 and Markis Lawson shot 64.

The Tigers head to Norwalk on Saturday for the Jim Denos Norwalk Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Galion plays Jonathan Alder at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware on Tuesday.

Colonel Crawford 173, Ridgedale 196

Nick Gremling shot 40 to win the match medal and lead Colonel Crawford to a win over Ridgedale in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf action on Tuesday. The Eagles (8-3, 3-2 N10) finished 23 shots better than the Rockets at the Golf Club of Bucyrus.

Gremling made birdies on three holes to pace the Eagles. Noah Trease finished his round at 41. Isaak Sulser shot 44 and Eli Shultz carded 48.

Austin Strouse shot 51 and Jake Roesch finished at 54.

Mitchell Reasnor and Mo Britton each shot 44 to lead the Rockets. Hannah Ferguson finished her round at 51 and Preston Burton shot 57. Brock Williams shot 59.

In junior varsity play for the Eagles, Devon Clayton shot 54, Tyson Russell shot 59 and Jake Rehm shot 60.

Pleasant 163, Galion 188

Max McCloy finished with a round of 38 and won the match medal to lead Pleasant to victory in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at the Marion Country Club.

Jack McElligott, Brevin Owens and Nick Kruger each shot 46 to lead the Tigers. Mitchell Dyer finished the day at 50 and Colten Skaggs shot 51.

Griffin McCloy and Jason Joehlin each shot 41 for the Spartans. Jed Charpie finished his round at 43. Drayson Campbell carded 45 and Brennon Newell finished at 48.

Upper Sandusky 171, Bucyrus 212

Upper Sandusky’s Trevor Clifford won the match medal after shooting 42 on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Bucyrus. Tommy Martin, Turner Dilley and Robert Kinley each shot 43 for the Rams. Zane Kitzler finished the day at 46 and Hunter Rhodin shot 48.

Mason Light led the Redmen with a score of 46. Keegan Sims shot 48. Braxen Spears and Dakota Picou each shot 60.

Last Friday, Bucyrus finished 12th at the McClean Invitational played at Oak Tree Golf Course in Mansfield. The Redmen shot 451.

Sims led the Redmen with a round of 87. Light shot 100. Picou finished at 127. Spears shot 137.

Wooster’s Corey Musselman shot 68 to lead the Generals to the team championship. He also won the match medal.

The Redmen (1-6, 0-5 N10) are off until Monday when they play host to Carey.
