Boys golf: Tigers edge Eagles at Valley View

Seneca East emerged victorious against Colonel Crawford in a hotly-contested Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf match Monday at Valley View Golf Course. The Tigers edged the Eagles by four strokes, 172-176.

Johnny Diehm of Seneca East shot 40 to claim the match medal. He birdied the par-5 number 13 hole at Valley View and shot even-par on five other holes to pace the Tigers to the win.

Nick Gremling was the Eagles’ top player, shooting 41. He birdied the par-5 number 17 hole and, like Diehm, made even-par on five other holes.

Seneca East’s Riley Kalb matched Gremling’s 41. Andy Bordner finished at 44 for the Tigers and Alex Forehand shot 47.

Noah Trease and Isaac Sulser each shot 44 for the Eagles, and Eli Schultz finished the afternoon at 47.

Lawren Willman shot 53 and Joey Lattimore carded 55 for Seneca East.

For the Eagles, Austin Strouse finished his round at 49 and Jake Roesch shot 50.

In junior varsity action, Colonel Crawford was five strokes better than Seneca East, 221-226. Jake Rehm won the JV medal for the Eagles after shooting 47. Devin Clayton shot 53. Tyson Russell carded 57 and Makalah Trubee finished at 64.

Dylan Kalb led the JV Tigers with a round of 49. Eric Allgyr shot 53. Jacob Margrf carded 57 and Tyrus Debold shot 67.

Upcoming schedule

The Eagles (6-3, 1-2 N10) play at Bucyrus on Thursday. Tee time is 4:15 p.m. at the Golf Club of Bucyrus.

Seneca East (4-0, 4-0 N10) plays host to Upper Sandusky on Tuesday, then entertains Carey and North Baltimore on Thursday. Both matches will be played at Clinton Heights Golf Course in Tiffin.
