Lady Knights season ended in district finals

DELAWARE — The Northmor Lady Golden Knights volleyball team was back in action at Buckeye Valley High School on Saturday, Oct. 28. This time, it was a meeting with the Pleasant Lady Spartans for the Division III Delaware I District championship and the rights to advance to the State Sweet 16.

Unfortunately, Northmor was downed by Pleasant in four sets; 17-25, 27-25, 17-25, 21-25. With the loss, the Lady Knights 2017 season ends with a record of 20-5. As for the Lady Spartans, they move on in the tourney and will face the Coldwater Lady Cavaliers on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Lake High School in Uniontown.

For the Northmor squad, it would prove to be the final game in the black and the gold for Jordyn Zoll, Caitlin Thebeault, Hope Miracle, Kelsie Fike and Cristianna Boggs.

Stats for the seniors were: Zoll- 23 assists; Thebeault- 9 assists; Miracle- 8/8 hitting, 5 kills, 6 blocks; Fike- 11/11 hitting, 5 kills and Boggs- 11 digs.

Junior Anna Donner turned in a rounded night on defense, recording 12 digs and four blocks. Donner also went 23 of 27 hitting en route to nine kills. Fellow junior Aly Blunk finished the match with 11 digs on defense.

Sophomore Leslie Brubaker contributed 15 of 16 hitting for nine kills and racked up six blocks at the net.
