Knights, Eagles run at Harding Invitational

MARION — On Saturday, October 7, the cross country teams from Northmor and Colonel Crawford headed to Marion Harding High School for the Harding Invitational.

The girls squad from Northmor finished with the highest team placement on the day, running to sixth overall in the varsity field. Northmor’s boys team finished eighth on the day while both Colonel Crawford teams came in ninth in their respective varsity races.

Team placements for the girls varsity race were: 1. Buckeye Valley; 2. Jonathan Alder; 3. Canal Winchester; 4. Centerburg; 5. Upper Sandusky; 6. NORTHMOR; 7. Ashland; 8. Findlay; 9. COLONEL CRAWFORD; 10. Liberty-Benton; 11. Lexington; 12. Mount Vernon; 13. Highland; 14. Bloom-Carroll; 15. Newark; 16. Harding; 17. Bucyrus and 18. Elgin.

There were a total of 167 girls finishing and 186 boys finishing in the races on Saturday.

Chloe Dawson, a freshman at Buckeye Valley, won the girls competition with a time of 18:46.9. Zach Kreft, also from Buckeye Valley, was the boys champion, earning the title in 15:38.5.

Northmor had one top-25 finisher on the day and that was Jessica Duryea, earning 22nd with a time of 21:07.5.

Other Lady Knights in action were: Samantha Peters- 21:28.4; Brooke Bennett- 21:29.8; Maddie Jordan- 21:56.8; Julianna Ditullio- 22:14.6; Julia Kanagy- 22:39.0; Sabrina Kelley- 23:12.8; Olivia Goodson- 23:39.3; Kristie Wright- 25:09.4 and Samantha Grogg- 25:21.6.

For the Lady Eagles, Courtney Britt and Ally Hocker both earned top-25 finishes, crossing the line in 20th and 21st, respectively. Britt finished the 5k in 21:05.2 and Hocker in 21:06.3.

Other Crawford girls running were: Kaisey Speck- 22:16.3; Kari Teglovic- 22:30.6; Hannah Willacker- 22:42.8; Alison Manko- 22:52.6; Katie Hopkins- 23:40.9; Courtney Lyons- 23:43.5; Abby Hocker- 23:47.7 and Alivia Payne- 25:22.1.

Team placements for the boys varsity race were: 1. Ashland; 2. Buckeye Valley; 3. Jonathan Alder; 4. Newark; 5. Findlay; 6. Canal Winchester; 7. Liberty-Benton; 8. NORTHMOR; 9. COLONEL CRAWFORD; 10. Elgin; 11. Highland; 12. Mount Vernon; 13. Bloom-Carroll; 14. Lexington; 15. Upper Sandusky; 16. Pleasant; 17. Harding; 18. Bucyrus; 19. Clear Fork and 20. River Valley.

Colonel Crawford had two boys finish within the top-25 at the invite on Saturday. Wade Hopkins ran a time of 17:12.3 to take home 16th overall while teammate Braxton James finished 24th in 17:24.0.

Other Eagles in action were: Alex Mutchler- 18:09.3; Mason McKibben- 18:39.9; Jacob Hoffman- 19:03.3; Alex Lawson- 19:07.3; Zach Leonhart- 19:11.9; Brandon Bauer- 21:16.3 and Bryce Tieben- 25:21.2.

Northmor did not have any runner within the top-25 but the highest placement was from Ausin Amens, at 30th, with a time of 17:31.5.

Other Knights running Saturday were: Gavvin Keen- 17:37.1; Ryan Bentley- 17:58.7; BJ White- 18:16.8; Chase Hoover- 18:22.9; Mostyn Evans- 18:49.0; Kaleb Hart- 19:02.6; Alec Moore- 19:21.2; Kooper Keen- 19:33.3 and Manny Heilman- 19:54.5.

An additional 228 runners finished in the open section of the Harding Invite on Saturday. Both the boys and girls open races were won by Team FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). The Northmor squad finished ninth in the boys portion of these races and was the only area school to place as a team.

Runners from Northmor and Crawford in action in the open portion of the invite on Saturday were: Sam Weaver (N)- 20:22.6; Zach Govoni (N)- 22:55.1; Kyle Price (N)- 22:57.5; Austin Lewis (N)- 22:58.9; Josh Cramer (N)- 27:11.0; Carolyn McGaulley (N)- 25:59.8; Francesa Cutrupi (N)- 26:31.9; Kenadie Hart (N)- 27:27.0; Annalyssa Leone (CC)- 29:07.4; Vivienne Cutrupi (N)- 30:10.9 and Macie Dicus (CC)- 30:44.7.

Next Saturday, October 14, both the Northmor Golden Knights and the Colonel Crawford Eagles will compete in their respective conference championships.

Northmor will be at Fredericktown for the Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference meet and Crawford will head to Seneca East to compete for Northern-10 Athletic Conference titles.
