Lady Tigers tennis nets another win

GALION — The Galion Lady Tigers tennis team continued their dominance over their opponents on Thursday afternoon when they hosted the Lady Spartans of St. Peter’s in a non-conference clash.

Galion earned the victory; 4-1 to improve to 14-0 on the season and remain 9-0 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

Kayley Gimbel won at first singles; 6-2, 6-4. Katherine Talbott remains undefeated on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles. At third singles, Jalyn Oswald also continued her season-long winning streak, breezing to a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Picking up the fourth point on the day for the Lady Tigers was the second doubles team of Elli Chandler and Katie Baughn. The Galion duo won their contest; 6-0, 6-1.

Playing first doubles for the Tigers on Thursday was Orchid Parsons and Marissa Breinich. That tandem was defeated by the duo from St. Pete’s; 0-6, 3-6.

A busy calender week awaits Galion next week. It all starts with a home, non-league match against Bucyrus on Monday. On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers will host the squad from Ontario in MOAC play. Pleasant will be at Heise Park on Wednesday to continue their match with Galion that was postponed due to weather. The week will end for the Galion squad with a road trip to Delaware on Thursday to meet up with the Lady Barons of Buckeye Valley in league play.
