Lady ‘Dogs tennis drops two for the week

MARION —On Thursday, August 24, the Lady ‘Dogs tennis team traveled to Marion to meet up with the Prexies in a non-conference match.

Harding, a heavy-hitter in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference made away with the 5-0 sweep of the Crestline squad.

The two seniors that play singles for Crestline, Michaela Jeffrey and Katlyn Stuff were defeated in straight sets against the Prexies. At first singles, Jeffrey was defeated by Harding’s Maggie Pitts; 0-6, 0-6. Stull was defeated by the Prexies second singles representative Nicole Flick; 0-6, 1-6. The Bulldogs had to forfeit their third singles match which secured the win for the home team.

In first doubles action, Mariah Mosier and Maddie Cultice fell to Harding’s Veda Patterson and Hunter Stoneburner; 3-6, 3-6. Desi Hunt and Jeri-ka Cassady met a similar result at second doubles, falling to Destiny Moaney and Rhiannon Reed; 4-6, 2-6.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Mansfield Senior to clash with the Lady Tygers on Monday. On Thursday, August 31 the Crestline girls will host the Lady Red from Bucyrus on Miller Courts on the Crestline schools campus.

CRESTLINE — The Madison Lady Rams were in Crestline on Monday, August 21 to clash with the hosting Lady Bulldogs.

Madison was able to pull out the 3-2 victory thanks in large part to their doubles teams.

In singles play, Jeffrey won her match against the Rams Ally Marsh; 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. A rare third singles win from Sabrina Forwith earned a second point for Crestline; 6-3, 6-4. Stull dropped her contest at second singles to Madison’s Chloe Lindsey; 6-5, 4-6, 5-6.

With the match win looming in the balance, Madison won at both first and second doubles competition.

At first doubles, Mosier and Cultice battled Bailey Hill and Natalie Reynolds but it was all Rams; 2-6, 2-6. Jasmine Tesso teamed up with Hunt at second doubles against Caylynn Penny and Abriya Pierce. The Crestline duo found themselves defeated by the Madison tandem; 4-6, 4-6.
