Galion 162 Marion Harding 185

GALION — The beginning of the 2017 golf season continued to be impressive for the Galion linksters on Wednesday when they welcomed Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference foe, the Marion Harding Presidents, to Sycamore Creek.

After their victory on Tuesday against the North Union Wildcats, the Tigers remained undefeated by winning 162-185 over the visiting Presidents. Galion is now 6-0 overall and 6-0 in the MOAC.

Leading the way for the home team on Wednesday was senior Mitch Dyer. Dyer poured in a 39 to edge out teammate Matthew McMullen who shot a 40 nine-hole score. Spencer Keller shot a 41 and Matt Kingseed turned in a scorecard of 42 to round out the Tigers’ kept scores. Dropped scores for the contest were shot by Jack McElligott and Kaleb Harsh, both finishing with a still impressive 43 on the day.

“It was certainly great to see Mitch (Dyer) break 40 tonight,” says Galion head coach Bryce Lehman. “He is always capable of doing so and he just needs to keep this same confidence every match and he will be fine.”

Galion’s season will continue after a short break on Tuesday, August 29 when they play host to one of the new MOAC contenders, the Ontario Warriors.

“I hope we can continue to play this consistent and as we do, we can continue to lower our scores in the process,” finishes the coach.
