Lady Knights begin ‘season with two wins


BELLVILLE — On Saturday, the regular season officially began for the Northmor Lady Golden Knights volleyball team when they traveled to Bellville for a tri-match with the hosting Colts and the Lady Cubs of Lucas.

When all was said and done, the Knights walked away with two victories on the day. Northmor defeated Clear Fork 25-8, 25-13 and were victorious over Lucas 25-6, 25-9. The Lady Knights begin their 2017 campaign at 2-0 and will open their Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference schedule on the road against Fredericktown on Thursday, August 24.

Against Clear Fork, the Knights were lead by nearly flawless serving from Jordyn Zoll and and Cristianna Boggs. Zoll went 13/13 from the service line, earning three aces while teammate Boggs was 13/14 with three aces as well. Zoll was also the primary setter for Northmor at 32/32 with 11 assists. Boggs contributed seven digs defensively for the Lady Knights.

Kelsie Fike and Anna Donner were the primary attack at the net for Northmor. Fike was 17/19 hitting with five kills and Donner went 16/17 with five kills. Donner also had five digs on defense.

Leslie Brubaker finished the contest with two kills and three blocks and Caitlin Theabeault aided in the victory, going 29/29 setting with nine assists. Lily Tate also chipped in two kills in the win.

Many of the same names brought their contributions in the victory over the Lady Cubs as well.

Donner was 16/17 on the attack with seven kills on offense. On defense, Donner racked up five digs and three blocks. Hope Miracle chimed in with a 6/6 hitting performance while recording five kills. Zoll finished game two with three kills, 14/14 serving with two aces and was 34/34 setting with 16 assists. Theabeault contributed three kills as well to go with an ace and six assists on offense.

Other Northmor stats were: Brubaker- two kills, two blocks; Fike- an ace; Boggs- 5/5 serving, two aces and 11 digs and Aly Blunk- five digs.
