Pirates hand Eagles fourth loss on links

MOUNT GILEAD — The Colonel Crawford Eagles golf team headed out to Mount Gilead on Wednesday afternoon to meet up with the Cardington Pirates in non-league action at Pine Lakes Golf Club.

Woes continued for the Eagles as they lost 175-209 to the Pirates to fall to 0-4 this year and 0-1 in the Northern-10 Athletic Conference.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Eli Shultz with a 48 on the afternoon. AJ Johnson finished with a 51 on the front nine of the course while Andy Brause (54) and Gavin Feichtner (56) rounded out the scoring for Crawford. Marcus Fagan shot a 61 and Andrew Daubenspeck finished with a 65 for the visitors in the loss.

Cayman Spires led the Pirates on the day with a 40. Logan Doubikin shot a 44, Josh Shook a 45 and Danny Vaught finished up the scoring for Cardington with a 46. Both Jacob Spires and Sage Brannon shot 52 for the home squad.

The Eagles will host N-10 foes, the Mohawk Warriors, on Thursday afternoon at Valley View before taking the weekend off. Conference action picks back up on Monday when the Seneca East Tigers roll in to Valley View to clash with Crawford.
