NORTH ROBINSON — On Thursday, the Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles softball squad relied on strong pitching to beat Huron 3-2 in a Division III sectional championship game.

Sydney Studer improved to 17-4 on the season with the complete game, two-hitter against the Tigers. Studer allowed a single and a double in the seven innings of work, walking just one batter and striking out 10. Studer helped her cause with a double at the plate and a run scored.

Crawford scored their three runs on just four hits and committed one error in the field of play.

In addition to Studer’s double, the Lady Eagles got singles from Karissa Rowlinson, Lydia Strouse and Karlie Kurtzman. Rowlinson also scored one of the three runs and drove in a run. Strouse and Abbie Bradshaw delivered RBIs in the win and Caitlin Koschnick scored the other Crawford run.

The Lady Eagles will now advance to the district semi-finals where they await the winner of Friday’s Edison and Wynford game. The semi-final matchup will be played on Tuesday May 16 at Lexington High School with a start time of 5 p.m.
