GALION — The Galion Lady Tigers improved to 13-10 overall and 6-6 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division on Tuesday with a 11-11 walk-off win vs. Buckeye Valley.

The Tigers posted 11 runs on 10 hits while committing two errors to edge the Lady Barons. Buckeye Valley had 10 runs on 12 hits but would commit seven errors in the field, with the last error costing them the contest.

In the top of the first inning, the Barons jumped out to a fast start by scoring four runs. Not to be outdone, the Lady Tigers came back with four of their own in the home half of the opening inning. Galion would silence the Barons’ bats in the second before tacking on another run of their own to take the 5-4 advantage.

The scoring would continue for Galion as they put up two runs in the third and fourth inning while Buckeye Valley managed just one run in that time frame. A quiet fifth inning by both teams sent the Barons to bat in the top of the sixth, still trailing 9-5. Buckeye Valley would proceed to plate five runs in the sixth to retake the lead by a tally of 10-9. The Lady Tigers answered back in the bottom of the frame when Dani Schieber belted a triple to score her sister Kate Schieber to tie up the contest headed into the seventh.

With the Barons unable to produce a run in the visiting half, Galion came up with a chance to walk-off the win and would do just that. The inning started with walks to Gabby Kaple and Dusty Thomas. Kaple and Thomas would double-steal third and second to put themselves in scoring position for Nevaeh Clark. Clark, who belted a solo homerun in the fourth, would serve as the hero when she rocketed a blast to the right side of the infield that forced the Barons’ seventh error and allowed Kaple to score from third.

Madelyn Thomas started the game for Galion, going the first 5.2 innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits while striking out six batters. Kaple would finish off the game for the win, throwing 1.1 innings, allowing just one hit and fanning one.

Nicole and Dusty Thomas both recorded multi-hit games for the Tigers and Emily Sedmak, Clark and Kate Schieber all recorded two runs batted in.

On Saturday, Galion has a home doubleheader vs. Mansfield Senior Lady Tygers.
