GALION — The 2017 campaign has been a tale of two different halves for the Galion Lady Tigers softball team.

Galion started the season undefeated at 8-0 before two lopsided league loses, before finishing off the first half of the season with a win against the Crestline Bulldogs. Heading into the second half of the year at 9-2, the Tigers have hit a bit of a skid

The Shelby Lady Whippets defeated Galion at Klehm Field on Monday, 7-2. The Tigers are 3-8 since their hot start. Overall, Galion is 12-10 on the season and 5-6 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division.

Shelby used 10 hits to plate their seven runs and committed no errors in the field. Galion scattered just four hits to score two runs and committed an error.

Madelyn Thomas took the loss for Galion, throwing the entire seven innings, allowing the 1o hits and striking out two batters.

Galion will host the Lady Barons from Buckeye Valley on Tuesday May 2 in league play. A pair of non-conference doubleheaders awaits the Tigers as they face-off against Mohawk on Friday and Mansfield Senior on Saturday. The Lady Tigers will wrap their regular season on the road against the Northmor Lady Golden Knights on Monday May 8.
