GALION — The Galion Lady Tigers softball team played host to the Lady Pioneers from Jonathan Alder on Wednesday at Klehm Field.

Alder led 3-0 after the first inning and would never look back. Galion gained back a run in the bottom half of the second inning to inch closer at 3-1. The Lady Pioneers would strike again with two more three-run innings in the fourth and the fifth with the Tigers putting up just three total in those frames. Alder tacked on another insurance run in the top of the sixth to make the score 10-4.

Galion rallied in the home half of the seventh, but managed just three runs en route to the 10-7 defeat.

Galion drops to 11-8 on the season and 5-5 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division.

The Lady Tigers amassed 13 hits to plate their seven runs and committed six errors. Alder also had 13 hits while committing two errors.

Gabby Kaple had a three-hit game for the Lady Tigers and Kate Schieber recorded two runs batted in. Dani Schieber threw four innings of work and Madelyn Thomas pitched three while striking out a pair of Pioneers’ hitters.

Galion will host the Mansfield Christian Lady Flames in non-league action on Thursday before traveling to North Union on Friday April 28.
