Crestline softball team wins 2 of 3 to start 2017 campaign

Crestline breezes passed St.Peter’s

CRESTLINE — The Lady Bulldogs from Crestline improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Mid-Buckeye Conference by defeating the visiting St.Peter’s Lady Spartans on Monday night.

Sarah Toy continued to be a pitching machine, going another three innings while allowing just one hit, walking one batter and fanning four. Toy also fared well at the plate with two doubles and a run batted in.

Lydia Tadda pitched the other two innings of work for the Lady ‘Dogs, allowing one earned run while walking one and striking out one. Tadda finished the contest with two singles, a double, two stolen bases and four total RBI.

Madison Huber also had a multi-hit game, belting two singles, picking up an RBI and swiping six bases.

Michaela Jeffrey had a single, two stolen bases and an RBI. Samantha Wilhite earned a double and an RBI and Courtney Swanger knocked in two runs with a single.

The Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles are up next for Crestline. Crestline will host the Eagles on Saturday April 1 for a doubleheader.

Lady Bulldogs, Knights split opening-day doubleheader

GALION — On Saturday, March 25, the softball season began for the Crestline Lady Bulldogs and the Northmor Lady Golden Knights. The two teams met for a doubleheader on Northmor’s home diamond.

In the opener, Crestline and Northmor would battle through 10 innings with the Bulldogs coming out on top, 7-6.

Sarah Toy would go the distance for Crestline, giving up just one walk, allowing 12 hits and six earned runs. Toy fanned five Northmor batters for the game. At the plate, Toy went three for five with a home run, a double, a single and two runs batted in.

Madison Huber, Desiree Naveja and Michaela Jeffrey would also record multi-hit games. Huber was two for four with a single and a double while Naveja went two for five, also with a single and a double. Jeffrey was three for three at the dish with two singles, a double and 3 RBI.

Samantha Wilhite, Courtney Swanger and Dennesa Baker all had singles in game one for Crestline.

Northmor would bounce back to take game two of the day, winning by a final score of 5-1.

Wilhite started game two but struggled in the outing, walking three batters to start off the game. Wilhite would deliver a single at the plate for the game for Crestline.

Toy would throw the remainder of the game, striking out five, allowing five hits and one earned run.

Also delivering singles for the Lady ‘Dogs were Lauryn Tadda, Lydia Tadda, Jeffrey and Huber. Huber drove in the lone run for Crestline.
