Lady Knights win easily vs. Mount Gilead

GALION — On Saturday afternoon the Northmor Lady Golden Knights played host to the Lady Indians of Mount Gilead. Northmor had no trouble with Mount Gilead en route to a lopsided 57-29 victory.

The Golden Knights improved to 12-9 overall with the win and 10-4 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division play. Mount Gilead dropped to 3-18 on the season and remains winless in the conference at 0-14.

The first quarter was all Northmor. Although the Knights only scored nine points in the opening period, defensively they held Mount Gilead scoreless. The Lady Indians mustered nine points in the second but Northmor stretched their lead further and went into the half up by a score of 24-9. Both teams came out of the break to score 12 points in the third but by this point, the Knights proved to put the game out of reach at 36-21. The final quarter saw Northmor tacking on an additional 21 points to Mount Gilead’s eight.

Maddi Swihart finished the day with 13 points to lead the Northmor scoring attack. Brooke Bennett chipped in 11 points in the win and Karalee Patterson finished with nine. Christianna Boggs had seven points for the Lady Knights. Lindsey Wiseman and Lydia Farley contributed six points apiece while Becca Duckworth finished off the Northmor scoring with five.

Dakota Shipman finished in double digits for Mount Gilead, scoring 13 of the team’s 29 points.

The regular season is now finished for the Northmor Lady Golden Knights. Up next will be their sectionals tournament matchup with the Fredericktown Lady Freddies, at home on Tuesday Feb. 21. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
