Crawford continues streak against the Redmen

NORTH ROBINSON — The Colonel Crawford Eagles boys basketball team entered their contest last Friday Dec.23 on a three-game winning streak. The Eagles welcomed the struggling Bucyrus Redmen to their home floor to compete in Northern-10 Athletic Conference play. When all was said and done, the Eagles earned their fourth straight victory, defeating the Redmen by a score of 68-40.

Crawford improves their season record to 5-2 and 4-1 in conference play. Bucyrus drops to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in league matchups.

As a team, Colonel Crawford was 24/38 (63%) from the interior and 5/13 (38%) from beyond the arc. The Eagles shot just 5/9 (56%) from the free throw line on the night and committed just 10 turnovers throughout the contest.

Brody Martin was the leading scorer for head coach David Sheldon against Bucyrus. Martin had 20 points on 8/12 shooting, including 4/6 from three point range. He also grabbed two rebounds, had an assist and swatted a block. Cameron McCreary also chipped in in a big way against the Redmen. McCreary had a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists. He also pulled down a couple of rebounds and recorded four steals. Big man Heath Starkey added a double-double as well, with 12 points, 13 rebounds, an assist, four blocks and two steals.

The Eagles will take to the road for their next game. On Tuesday Dec.27 they will travel to Plymouth to meet up with the Vikings in non-conference action. Crawford will be back in N-10 play on Friday Dec.30 when they host the Ridgedale Rockets.
