CRESTLINE — Fresh off of their first win of the season, the Crestline Bulldogs boys basketball team welcomed fellow Mid-Buckeye Conference members, the Lucas Cubs to town last Saturday. After a hard fought 36 minutes, the Bulldogs would find themselves on the losing end of the battle, 49-47.
Crestline falls to 1-5 overall this season and are now 0-3 in the MBC.
The Bulldogs found themselves behind after the first half of play by a score of 25-18 but would rally in the second half to force an overtime period. The score was knotted up at 40 points apiece at the end of regulation.
Kevin Winkler was the leading scorer for Crestline against Lucas. Winkler would end the contest with 15 points, five rebounds and three steals. Ty Clark would add nine points and five rebounds. Davon Triplett would also finish with nine points, grab eight rebounds and recored all three of the Bulldogs’ blocks for the evening.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot 15/45 total from the field, including 2/15 from deep range. They had success at the free throw line, going 15/19. Crestline had 32 total rebounds and five steals as a team.
Crestline will host the Loudonville Redbirds in MBC play on Tuesday Dec.27.
The Crestline Bulldogs junior varsity won to improve to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
