Colonel Crawford boys basketball drops N-10 opener

CAREY — The boys basketball team from Colonel Crawford dropped their second straight contest Saturday against Northern-10 Athletic Conference opponent, the Carey Blue Devils. Carey came away with the win by a final score of 50-43.

Colonel Crawford drops to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in the N-10.

Ashland University commit, Heath Starkey was the leading scorer for the Eagles against the Blue Devils. Starkey had a double-double for the contest with 14 points on 7/9 shooting and 11 rebounds. The 6’10” senior also added two blocks. Freshman Cameron McCreary chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and two steals in the loss.

As a team, Crawford shot 18/38 (47.4%) from two point range, 2/13 (15.4%) from three and just 1/4 (25%) from the free throw line. In total, the Eagles grabbed 40 rebounds, five assists, six steals and three blocks while committing 20 turnovers.

The Eagles will have two league opponents on the schedule for the upcoming week. On Friday Dec.16, they will be on the road to face the Mohawk Warriors. Crawford will then turn around and be at home on Dec.17 and host the Wynford Royals.
