A look back, and ahead, at the Colonel Crawford Eagles

NORTH ROBINSON — As November is quickly approaching, so is the winter sports seasons for local area high schools. The Northern-10 Athletic Conference is the home of the Colonel Crawford Eagles.

Here’s a recap of how the Eagles fared last year in their respective sports.

The boys basketball team finished in third place in the N-10 behind Buckeye Central and Upper Sandusky. Upper finished at 23-1 overall and a perfect 16-0 in the league while the Bucks went 17-7 and 12-4. The Eagles wrapped up the season after a sectional championship with an overall record of 16-8 and 11-5 in the N-10. A decent season for Crawford, following their league championship in the 2014-2015 season. A season in which they toted a record of 23-2 overall and 17-1 in the conference. Colonel Crawford begins their 2016-‘17 campaign at home against the Mansfield Christian Flames on Friday Dec. 2.

The Eagles’ girls squad will start their season on the road on Saturday November 26 against the Northmor Golden Knights. Crawford is looking to bounce back from their 9-15 finish overall last year, while going 5-11 in conference play which was good for seventh of nine teams. The Eagles finished the 2014-2015 season at .500 overall and in the N-10 (11-11, 9-9). The Carey Blue Devils continued their N-10 dominance last year with a record of 23-2 and a spotless 16-0 in inner-league play.

Colonel Crawford has always been strong when it comes to swimming. In 2014-2015, both the boys and girls teams won Northern-10 titles. In the ‘15-‘16 season, the conference downsized and now has just four teams with swimming programs. The conference title may have went away last year, but both teams seized Northern-10 Invitational championships. Both squads finished in second in their Division III sectional to advance to districts. From districts, many of the Eagles found themselves competing at the state level. The swimmers from Crawford will begin their season at home on Monday November 28 against two N-10 rivals, the Upper Sandusky Rams and the Wynford Royals.
