Utica knocks Northmor out of district volleyball tournament

DELAWARE — Utica put an end to Northmor’s volleyball season on Wednesday night, dropping the Knights 25-12, 25-19, 25-14 in a district tournament semifinal.

Northmor ends the season with an impressive 19-6 record and a sectional championship. The Knights were 17-5 in the regular season.

“I am extremely proud of the Northmor volleyball program and their tremendous dedication to each other and improving as volleyball players,” said coach Kara Wright. “We will lose three seniors who have been integral to our success this year. “

The outgoing seniors are Lindsey Wiseman, Rayanna Loyer, and Erica McElvain.

That means there was a lot of young talent on this year’s squad.

“Next year, Northmor will gain a tremendous amount of talent and experience from the junior varsity and varsity program,” Wright said.

Against Utica , the Knights were led by Kelsie Fike, who was 19 of 21 hitting with eight kills. Hope Miracle was 15 of 15 with six kills. Anna Donner chipped in six kills, Leslie Brubaker had four kills and Chloe Meier three.

On defense, Jordyn Zoll had 13, Donner had 11 digs, Kelsie Fike had eight digs and Caitlin Thebeault and Wiseman had seven apiece.

Fike was 9 of 9 serving with an ace, Miracle was 10 of 10 serving and Zoll and Thebeault each had an ace.

Leslie Brubaker had the team’s only block. Zoll was 81 of 89 setting with 29 assists, and Meider and Thebeault each had assists.
