In case you missed some or all of these things, here is what was happening in sports the weekend of 10/21-10/23

PROFESSIONAL

The Cleveland Browns are still winless at 0-7 this season after losing the Battle of Ohio to the Cincinnati Bengals, 31-17. The Browns had to go to deeper into their quarterback depth chart to Kevin Hogan after Cody Kessler went out with a concussion.

The National Football League no longer has any undefeated teams as the Minnesota Vikings fell at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, 21-10.

The Cleveland Indians finally have an opponent in the 2016 World Series. The Chicago Cubs ended the season for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, winning 5-0 to take the series; 4-2. It is the Indians first World Series appearance since 1997 and the Cubs first since 1945. Cleveland last won the title in 1948 and Chicago hasn’t won a title since 1908.

The Michigan Wolverines won and the Ohio State Buckeyes lost…

HIGH SCHOOL

The River Valley Vikings upset the Jonathon Alder Pioneers, 18-14 last Friday. It was the first loss of the season for Alder and their first loss in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division in the last two years.

The East Knox Bulldogs scored an astonishing 83 points last Friday against the winless Elgin Comets in MOAC Blue Division play.

Connoe Moreton, placekicker for the Galion Tigers, Connor Moreton, almost broke his own school record against the North Union Wildcats. His attempted field goal from 54-yards out hit halfway up the left goal post before bouncing off.

The Galion Tigers volleyball team’s season ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to the Huron Tigers in their sectionals tournament championship.

The Northmor Golden Knights volleyball team’s season stays alive after defeating the Cardington Pirates 3-0 on Saturday on their home court. The Knights will now move on to Buckeye Valley High School to take on the Utica Redskins in the districts tournament.

Northmor’s cross country teams are moving on to the regional championships after their performances on Saturday in Pataskala. The girls squad finished first overall to advance and the boys team advances after finishing third.

Chad Johnson of the Colonel Crawford Eagles cross country team continued to dominate on the Galion course at Amanns. He has now won the county meet, the Galion Cross Country Festival and districts competitions. As a team, the Eagles boys squad won the event to advance to regionals and the girls move on after qualifying at fourth place.
