GALION — When all was said and done on Thursday evening in Heise Park, the Galion Tigers tennis team found themselves victorious, 3-2, over the Marion Harding Prexies. It was a long, tough match but the Tigers knocked off defending Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division champions.
The singles players for Galion came up big yet again. Third singles competitor Jalyn Oswald won easily in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Oswald is now 7-3 on the season. Katherine Talbott was in action at second singles and improved her season record to 6-2, winning 6-2, 6-3. Kayley Gimble was the deciding point for the match at first singles. She remained undefeated on the season, winning 6-0, 4-6 and 6-3.
Kiersten Gifford and Danielle Schneider were paired up at first doubles and were handed a 1-6, 1-6 defeat. Second doubles team of Marissa Breinich and Ellie Chandler lost a tough matchup to Harding, 3-6, 6-7 (tie break 3-7).
Galion improves to 5-2 on the season and continues to prove themselves, despite their youth, every match.
